Blog: Brave Miss World

PAAR is honored to be a co-sponsor of the Brave Miss World Pittsburgh Premier at the 2014 JFilm Festival this Thursday, April 3rd. The film documents one survivor’s personal mission to empower other survivors to come forward and tell their stories. It also illustrates the vital role family and friends can play into a victim’s recovery.

Just weeks before Linor Abargil was crowned Miss World 1998, she was brutally raped while modeling in Italy. Years later, in the documentary Brave Miss World, director Cecilia Peck followed Linor as she traveled the globe, encouraging other women to speak out about their own victimization.

At Thursday’s premier following the film PAAR’s Executive Director, Alison Hall, will be leading a Q&A session with Linor. We will share her answers and viewer’s reactions to the film on our blog.

Stay tuned!

Below is the trailer for the film, as well as a link to a podcast discussing the film with its director Cecilia Peck and Alison.
